Clinique Audiologie Laval (CAL) also offers training and hearing screening services for industries where employees are exposed to high noise levels.
The audiologist is the hearing health professional designated to carry out noise measurements to determine employee noise exposure, and to raise awareness of the effects of noise on hearing.
Training for industrial nurses is available. It provides a better understanding of the anatomy and functioning of the auditory system, the impact of noise on hearing and the sound levels deemed harmful, as well as the procedure for conducting a hearing screening test. The aim is to make hearing screening services more accessible in the industry in order to prevent hearing loss. The audiologist who provides this training will also be able to support you in your practice.
An audiologist could also come directly to your industry to carry out the hearing screening. You’ll be presented with just a few sounds at specific volumes to identify whether a full audiological assessment might be necessary. He or she can also educate your employees about wearing hearing protection in the workplace to reduce the short- and long-term effects on hearing, including hearing loss.
Why offer this service in my establishment?
Hearing screening enables the early identification of the presence of hearing loss, and raises awareness of the need for hearing protection. Noise-induced occupational deafness is the most costly cause of work-related injury, and the incidence is increasing every year in Quebec. Offering a hearing screening service in your company provides an opportunity to improve your employees’ day-to-day communication.
Taking impressions and ordering customized plugs
Clinique Audiologie Laval also offers an impression service of the external auditory canal to obtain customized filtered plugs.
A silicone-based impression material is applied to your ear canal. After a few minutes, the impression material is dried and removed from your ear canal to be sent to a company that will produce your custom plugs.
Why get custom plugs?
- More comfortable;
- More effective fit for better hearing protection;
- Reduced risk of infection;
- Use of filters with different attenuation levels to reduce the intensity of all industrial sounds;
- Easy to maintain;
- Longer service life than conventional plugs.
