Auditory processing disorder evaluation

(7 years and older)

It’s a type evaluation offered for children and adults to check for the presence of an auditory processing disorder (APD).

What is APD?

APD is a disorder that affects the central auditory system with a normal peripheral hearing. This means that the child can hear well, but there’s a disconnection between what you’re hearing and what the brain processes. It can translate into difficulties remembering instructions, organization of speech, or understanding a verbal message.

APD can cause learning and/or academic difficulties.

Consult an audiologist if you or your child have :

Learning and/or academic difficulties
Suspicion of ADD/ADHD
Hearing difficulties in noise
Difficulty following instruction

Note that APD evaluations are also offered for adults. (Offered in English and French)
